RV App — Community Guidelines
How we expect members to treat each other on RV
1. Why We Have These Guidelines
RV is a space for SSAANZ members — veterans, serving personnel, and their whānau — to connect, share, and support each other. These Guidelines set out what we expect from everyone using RV's community features (notice board, messaging, or any other shared space in the app), so RV stays a place people want to be part of.
They sit alongside our values: Whanaungatanga (connection/belonging), Manaakitanga (care/respect/service), Integrity, Courage, Equity, and being Community-led.
2. Who This Applies To
Every RV account holder, whenever you post, comment, message, or otherwise interact with other members through the app.
3. What We Expect
- Treat other members with respect, even when you disagree.
- Look out for each other — this is a community built on Manaakitanga.
- Keep firearms, hunting, and safety-related discussion consistent with SSAANZ's Safety Management Plan and event SOPs; don't share advice that contradicts them.
- Respect people's privacy — don't share another member's personal information, health information, photos, or location without their consent.
- Give credit where it's due, and don't post content you don't have the right to share.
4. What's Not OK
- Harassment, bullying, hate speech, or discrimination of any kind.
- Sharing another member's personal, medical, or health information.
- Impersonating SSAANZ, another member, or anyone else.
- Commercial spam or unrelated advertising.
- Content that's unlawful, threatening, or that puts someone's safety at risk.
- Undermining the safety standards in SSAANZ's SOPs (for example, encouraging unsafe firearms handling).
5. Wellbeing & Sensitive Topics
Members may share that they're going through a hard time, and we want RV to be a place where that's met with care.
If you're worried about another member, encourage them to use RV's wellbeing/crisis-support feature (see our Wellbeing & Crisis-Support Addendum) or, if they're in immediate danger, call 111. RV's community features are not a monitored crisis service, so please don't rely on a notice board post to get someone urgent help.
6. Photos
Some members choose not to have their photo used publicly (see the photo opt-out on our Activity Waiver and Release of Liability). If you're posting a photo from an SSAANZ event that includes other people, be mindful of this and leave out anyone who's asked not to be pictured, if you're aware of that request.
7. If Guidelines Aren't Followed
We may remove content that breaches these Guidelines. Depending on how serious or repeated the issue is, we may also warn, suspend, or delete an account — see Section 6 of our Terms of Use.
8. Reporting a Concern
If you see something that concerns you, or something's been posted about you that shouldn't have been, contact us at info@ssaanz.co.nz.
9. Review
These Guidelines are reviewed alongside our other RV app policies, and updated if RV's community features change materially.
