Who We Are

SSAANZ is a veteran‑led charity dedicated to supporting veterans, serving personnel, and their whānau across Aotearoa.

We were founded on a simple but powerful belief: that no one should navigate life during or after service alone.

Our kaupapa, Unity Through Adventure, reflects the origins of SSAANZ — bringing people together through shared experiences that build trust, connection, and belonging.

While our work has grown beyond adventure‑based activities, this principle continues to guide how we create community and support across the motu.

Today, we bring people together through membership, community events, and the network of supporters and partners who help make our work possible.

What We Do

SSAANZ provides practical, personalised support to help veterans and whānau access the right services at the right time. Our work focuses on three core areas:

Membership

Membership is how veterans, serving personnel and whānau become part of the SSAANZ community. As a member, you get access to events, a supportive network, and a whānau of people who understand service.

Community Events

  • Connection is at the heart of wellbeing.
  • Our events bring people together — from casual meet‑ups to regional gatherings — creating opportunities to reconnect, build friendships, and strengthen community.
  • These events are grounded in our belief in Unity Through Adventure, where shared experiences help reduce isolation and build resilience.

Supporters & Partnerships

SSAANZ is backed by a growing network of businesses, organisations, and individuals who support veteran wellbeing. Their support helps us deliver events, strengthen community, and reach more veterans and whānau across Aotearoa.

Our Commitment

We honour service by supporting those who serve — with compassion, respect, and community at the heart of everything we do.

Not Sure Where to Turn?

SSAANZ's focus is on maintaining connection and wellbeing — creating the everyday support that helps veterans and whānau stay well before things become serious. We're not a medical or mental health treatment service.

If you or someone you know needs a level of support beyond what SSAANZ offers, we work alongside other veteran and community organisations and can help point you toward the right service.
