6 - 7 people required for the course to go ahead. Maximum of 10 people for the Course.
Learn new skills in the area of hunting. Whether you are interested in meat or trophy hunting this course will guide you through the basics of what you need to know.
Suitable for beginners however even experienced hunters can learn from this course (No Firearms License required for the course)
Accommodation is shearers quarters in a Wool Shed complete with toilet, shower and kitchenette.
WHAT TO BRING
Clothing that is suitable for the season's weather conditions i.e:
Site is self catering but SSAANZ will provide the morning and evening meals. Lunches and snacks must be brought by the participant.
Safety is always a number one priority when handling firearms. Although you do not require a firearms licence on this course, you are required to listen to all safety briefings onsite. The course will continue through any weather conditions.
We strongly recommend that all members have their own medical insurance while on the course to cover for any medical and related costs (i.e helicopter out of area, hospital care, accommodation etc.)
The operator/s will remove any individual deemed unsafe from the property immediately if they act in a dangerous or reckless manner. IT IS A WORKING FARM. It’s a privilege to have access and all farming activities take priority over us.
HEALTH & FITNESS
A reasonable standard of fitness is required as terrain is hilly and at times steep. Onward Hunting do not use quad bikes or any other forms of motorized vehicle unless someone is physically impaired. If you are concerned about your own personal health and fitness level please contact us at SSAANZ to discuss and we will be able to guide you in whether this course is for you.
It is essential to be well prepared for the weather conditions. As we all know the weather in New Zealand can change dramatically over the course of a few hours so it is good to be prepared.
This is a rough guide below as to what to expect for weather but please make sure you are prepared for any rough weather that might arise.
WEATHER APRIL IN WHANGANUI, NEW ZEALAND

The private farm site have public liability insurance for onsite. We strongly recommend that you purchase your own travel/medical insurance while on the course to cover for any medical and related costs. (i.e helicopter out of area, hospital care, accommodation etc.)
